This romantic story is unusual in its construction. It’s most definitely a romance, but doesn’t conform to the conventional precept that comes with the genre (H/h meet, H/h struggle, H/h fall in love). This one begins with multiple MCs: H/h, H and h. Morphs into a H/h and h. And ends with the unexpected H/h. I admit I was frustrated with not knowing the true H/h in the first half. But it was a good frustration, the kind that kept me reading in anticipation. The conclusion, and the unforeseen paths to get there, were executed nicely and left me wondering if a sequel is in the works (I checked…the sequel is coming). The characters and their drama were very Grey’s Anatomy– McDreamy, McCreary–so if you’re a fan of the show, or just enjoy well-written contemporary romance, this is a recommended read.
