A raw and surreal avalanche of emotions throughout this tragic story of survival. I spent most of the book holding my breath, clinging to the cliff by one finger, ill with desperation to see the characters through. Such a gentle blend of coming-of-age and surrender. Garvis-Graves wrangled my sympathy so much so that I disregarded the inappropriate age gap between the male and female leads and would've argued their defense with anyone who spoke against it. The plot, the characterization, the writing style...it all exceeded expectations.
