This is my twelfth KA novel and my favorite so far. KA has created a very distinct chest-pounding-alpha-male mold, and it's one she uses over and over in all her stories. Knight is born from this mold, but he comes wielding a spanking hand and strap. This is not BDSM--the strap is the extent of the play--but there is a hint at D/s in attitude and conversations which makes Knight stand apart from the KA alpha template. I want to give this five stars, but the profusion of vexing writing habits is impossible to ignore...a few examples: unneeded paragraph breaks (Oh my. New line. Oh God. New line. Oh. My. God.), odd hewing dialogue (I can hear the men grunting out every syllable), and the narrator too often tells what the dialogue shows. I wouldn't normally point out technical no-no's, but KA is such a great storyteller, and these weary and too frequent irritants are what keeps me from reading her books back to back. Nevertheless, I will continue with this series, anticipating another KA overbearing man with too-hot-to-be-lawful looks.
